There were such frequent changes in POV that the book was nearly impossible to follow, and the repetition of sentences from one POV to the next came across as cheesy, rather than clever. I expected more of a countdown/anxious anticipation for the 72-hour deadline, but it was hardly mentioned. The book would’ve been more exciting if the short timeline had been emphasized. From the conversations I had with him I can tell that he poured every ounce of his authentic self to his craft. From the moment I read the first couple of pages I knew I was getting to a thrilling ride. I FELT the stories in these pages and it came ALIVE to me. The plot pacing was spot on, characters developed so well and it was unpredictable while still flowing in a way that I had to keep going. The crafty, original analogies and wit carefully placed throughout the pages might be my favorite part of this novel. I could envision smells, shapes, and shadows. One description, mini-fridge shaped body had me fighting back boisterous laughter on a packed subway train headed into Manhattan. Having lived in Harlem for some years, my mind's eye darted as I read Sochima's words, trying to remember the places I was reading about in 72 Hours to Judgement.
